Committing Poetry in Times of War follows Youth Poetry Slam Tram coach

Bill Nevins firing as a teacher, and the silencing of his outspoken High School

Poetry Team. Peaceful protesters demonstrating nearby were brutally assaulted

by police as free speech zones were enforced at gunpoint. The fabric of the

Constitution was crumbling.

Yet, out of this  fire arose a diverse community of musicians and poets. Dubbed

Poetic Justice, its "blood pounding" slam poetry was a  testament to our creative

spirit representing a path toward transformation and hope.

A multi-media one man show by international human rights attorney
Eric Sirotkin, executive producer of the Best Human Rights and Poetry
Film of the Year Committing Poetry in Times of War.Excerpts from the
film and a dialogue on the power of creativity in social activism are
featured.

To “commit poetry” is to live a poetic life filled with
creativity, imagination and rhythmic grace. The presentation inspires
people to use their “good heads and good hearts” to make change
live hopeful in troubled times. An open mic follows, allowing
anyone to share poetry or opinions.

Ubuntuworks helps with publicity and outreach using its extensive
mailing lists to Human Rights groups, peace organizations, poets,
writers, lawyers and others.  Your organization secures the venue,
fills in the blanks on template posters and press releases and posts
them around town. You should also share it on local email lists and
get it into Weekly and Monthly publications for their calendars. We
can also assist in ways to make it a joint fundraiser for Ubuntuworks
and your organization.

Eric may also be available to speak at local high schools or
universities during his visit. Check out his lecturing program.
