Katie Harlow

Catherine (Katie) Jean Harlow, cellist, has a Bachelor Degree in Cello Pedagogy and a Masters degree in Music Education from the University of New Mexico. For the past 30 years, she has performed solo and in numerous symphonic, chamber, folk, and improvised music ensembles throughout the southwestern United States. Since 1997, she has been on the Performing Arts Faculty at the Albuquerque Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ms. Harlow is an active composer and arranger and recently completed a collaboration, entitled Friendship, with Iraqi Oud player, Rahim AlHaj. She has composed original music for Shakespeare's As You Like It and Romeo and Juliet. She has collaborated with Albuquerque director and playwright Laurie Thomas and composed music for Barry Kornhauser's play, This is Not a Pipe Dream. Ms. Harlow worked with the performance group Playroom to create original music for Ms. Thomas's play Mad Hattr, which premiered in Spring 2007 at Albuquerque's Cell Theater, and she created cello mood solos for Committing Poetry in Times of War.
